“The Belly of the Beast”
BWBJ in Collaboration with UCSF Pre Term Birth Initiative (PTBI) presents the film “The Belly of the Beast” which explores illegal sterilizations in California's women's prisons. We will be screening this film here on April 15, 2021 at 6:00 pm PST. After the screening, ,at 7:30, we will be joined by Kelli Dillion who is both featured in the documentary and is the Co-Chairperson for the Empowerment Congress Southeast neighborhood Council along with Chinyere Oparah (Provost and Dean of Faculty at Mills College; Co-founder of Black Women Birthing Justice), and Aminah Elster (CA Coalition for Women Prisoners. Jennifer James (Assistant Professor at UCSF, BWBJ Member) will be moderating.for a panel discussion.
